As twilight fell beneath the leaves of the mighty Teldrassil, few stars twinkled high above the small village of Starbreeze. Most had turned in for the night, leaving just a sparse few roaming the lush green meadows. One such was a young sentinel named Marise Willowbrook, who sighed as she paced towards the sacred moonwell outside the confines of the village. She was proud of her duty, but the extent of her protection was scaring off a wild beast from time to time, or chasing off a firbolg cub that had gotten too close to the village.. She longed for something.. anything that would ease the drab monotiny her life had become so far from the great city of Darnassus. Shrugging her shoulders in boredom, she trekked forward, her eyes scanning for anything out of the ordinary at her eye level. Had she looked up, she might have caught glimpse of one such thing..
A star.. a single star seemed to grow bright; then brighter still.. blinking as if a throbbing heartbeat.. Several intense shudders of light, then "fwoosh!" The tiny dot of light flashed out of the sky, crashing with a loud splash into Starbreeze's moonwell.. Alerted by the sound, and streak of light blasting into her field of vision, Marise broke into a sprint towards what she could only describe as some type of heavenly body crashing to the ground. Rounding the base of a tall tree, Marise slid to a stop when she caught glimpse of the moonwell.
The clear glowing water seemed to steam as the light that had so recently fell within slowly started to ebb into softer and softer shades of pale white light. Marise cautiously approached.. Her glaives gripped tightly in each now damp hand; each stepped measuredly dropped to the ground as quietly as she could in her light chainweave armor. As the light of the water grew softer, splashing could be heard as well.. tiny splashes that contrasted heavily to the normal gentle lapping of the pool's contents on it's rocky shore. As Marise grew within 15 or so paces of the water's edge, Marise heard another sound.. that of a soft coo.. much like a child.. raising from the edge of the pool, a tiny hand reached up as if trying to grasp the soft halo of lightning bugs that had convoleced(sp?).. Attracted to the objects gentle glowing.
Marise gasped again, a sound growing quite frequent for her as of late.. Rushing to the edge of the pool, she gazed down on an unexpected sight. Within the pool, a rocky half shell, almost like a womb made of the purest moonstone held within it a tiny infant girl.. an elf to be sure.. a tuft of pure white hair upon her tiny head, with large white eyes as well that blinked slowly as Marise's large visage came into the little ones view. Tilting it's little head, it looked up at Marise as if studying her.. little noises of various types emitting from it's little mouth. Marise, almost in a stupor, dropped one of her glaives as it clanged to the rock beneath her feat, causing her to jump with a start. Looking down at it, she almost laughed.. only to look back at the infant. The child stared back awhile, then made another soft cooing sound.. Reaching out at Marise with little chubby fingertips.
Marise wanted to run.. tell someone.. anyone what she had just seen.. Get the elders, they would know what to do for the child.. She was thinking a million things at once when those little hands reached out to her.. She wasn't even sure she should touch it! Who knows what this meant.. who knew? Certainly not her.. It wasn't her place to know.. she fought and died where she was told. Something in her just couldn't leave the child there alone.. any of a thousand things could happen to the little thing out all alone.. Even in the short time it would take to summon an elder.. So.. picking up her dropped glaive, and strapping it to it's holding place, along with it's mate on her opposite hip, she reached down and grasped the infant about the waist.. a warm feeling of peace tingling up her arms to her elbows as soon as fingertips touched skin.. even through her thick protected gloves.
Marise smiled.. for the first moment since the light streaked across the sky.. She felt something that she never expected to feel right then. That she was supposed to be there.. Somehow, she was supposed to find this little beautiful girl.. What would happen next, she didn't know.. And was the furthest thing from her mind as she wrapped her cloak around the little form and cuddles it tight to her chest.. Walking the path back to the village.. and someone who could give her some answers..

((End part 1, there are going to be many many many many parts, as far as I can tell, All things will be explained in due time!!! ~Sera ))
