Part 1

“Father! Father”, a small voice called out through the forest. “Father, where are you?” A young Night Elf wandered around through the large trees, her light golden eyes looking all around her and hands reaching up every now and again to take hold of a nearby tree as if to hold her balance. The long blue hair she possessed cascaded down a bit below her lower back and flowed in the gentle breeze that passed by. The loose robes she wore draped down past her feet, blocking them from sight as she trotted onward, unaware of the dangers that lurked throughout the forest.

As she continued on, she froze at the sight of what appeared to be a Webwood Lurker sneaking up behind a small rabbit. The spider-like creature slowly crept up behind the defenseless animal, prepared to feast upon it as its left front claw was brought up to attack. Just as it had brought it’s claw down to deliver the blow, the little critter had been tackled out of the way just in time. The Lurker made a hissing noise as it turned its attention to where the critter now stood…with a little Night Elf standing in front of it as if to protect the rabbit.

“No, Mr. Lurker. That’s a very bad bug”, she shouted at it with arms outstretched to the sides and head shaking. “No bunny for you!”

Hissing once more, the Lurker narrowed its eyes toward the girl with legs carrying it backward. It prepared itself to attack, lowering its body to the ground and quickly lunging at her.

She closed her eyes tightly and turned her head away, waiting for the spider to make contact. It seemed, however, that the attack never landed. The girl opened her eyes slowly and her eyes widened at the sight of the Lurker lying upon the ground with three arrows sticking out from its face, purple fumes flowing up from the wounds. “Huh?”

“Kaimesha!” That booming male voice was music to her ears as she looked to the source. A grown male Night Elf was rushing over toward her, a rather big Nightsaber following close behind. Once reaching her, he knelt in front of her and set a hand upon her left cheek gently with a small smile. “Thank goodness you’re all right. You’re not hurt, are you?”

Her eyes blinking a few times, the young Night Elf stared at the male before bringing her right hand up to touch the back of her head as she giggled nervously. “I’m ok, father!” She looked back to see if the bunny she had put her very life on the line to protect was still there but it seemed to have moved on elsewhere.

“That’s excellent to hear.” He couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at the upbeat attitude she displayed after being so close to death. Shaking his head slowly, the long blue ponytail tied in the back of his head swaying all the while, he glanced to his companion and nodded once. “Let us return home.” Letting out a bit of a roar, the Nightsaber walked over to the girl and lowered his body a bit as the male walked ahead. “Climb on, Kaimesha.”

“All right, father”, she cheered happily before climbing upon the feline’s back and allowing it to carry her along.

As he walked a little further up from the two, the hunter Night Elf slipped his bow into the leather quiver strapped onto his back and lowered his hands to his sides as his mind began to wander a bit in thought. All he could think about was what might have became of his little one if he hadn’t made it in time to take down the Webwood Lurker at that very moment. It had almost made him never want to let her out of his sights ever again though he knew just how impossible that would be, considering all the times he was called off for battle.

Meanwhile behind him, Kaimesha rode upon the Nightsaber with a smile as she hands kept a firm yet gentle hold upon the fur on the back of his neck. Her joyful giggles continuing, she leaned forward and nuzzled the side of her head against the top of his head playfully. “Thanks a lot, Fernum, for the lift. I’ll be sure to give you a great big fish when we get back”, she said as she put a bit of emphasis on the word ‘big’ as if to peak his interest. The big cat began to purr lightly as his eyes closed slowly, the thought of fish now running through his mind. Noticing the look on his face, she instantly raised her head up once more and released his fur with her left hand to wave to her father who had glanced back at them just then.
